Dinner, weekend & a hunt

I have to say I love my new job… Thursday night was the annual fundraising dinner which I have to organizing for next year. It was great to be able to start the week running up to it so I can experience it first hand and see what is expected of me next year. It was good to see some old friends and to meet some board members and people I’ve to work with.

I came back up to the woods at the weekend. I’m so glad I did. Last Friday before I left as a staff we did Secret Angels. I thought since I would be down in Toronto my angel would have an easy time of it but I was wrong! When I arrived on Friday night I had a note in my pigeon hole with a code on it to lead me to another code. I spent all Friday night and Saturday going all over camp looking for people, places, solving puzzles and jumping through a few hoops it was a lot of fun, the last message was I could have my prize or continue next weekend obviously I chose next week. It’s been great fun especially as a lot of the staff are in on it helping my angel. I’m looking forward to what they have in store for me next weekend.

Here’s to sliding down the tubing hill on skateboards at 1am, waking Arlene up, Alice screaming when the birds flew out of the trees, Arlene thinking she saw 2 bears on the way up to B3, “Don’t talk to Don, talk to Robin”, Matthew Robert Zinc, seeing my first moon dog, going to the Christmas Bizarre in Rosseau, the Bulk food store jokes, the best thing since sliced bread, continually taking the longest road from Josh, radio banter with Don, watching Heroes with Matt, “You’re the big T!” The return of oatmeal raisin cookies and to looking forward to going to work tomorrow.

Public transport, green truck & snow

My new job is pretty sweet I have to say really enjoying it and looking forward to really getting my teeth stuck in over the next few weeks. There is a great atmosphere in the office very relaxed and comfortable. I’m staying downtown this week and thought I was doing well with public transport until this morning when I made a few school boy errors-
1) I got off the subway at the wrong station.
2) Tried to get on the bus at the drop off point rather than the boarding area.
3) I wasn’t balance when the bus pull out and I fell on top of a randomer.
4) I got on the wrong bus and had to get off in the middle of no where and wait for another one.

I was 20 minutes late due to above 5 points but it was ok my boss was also just getting in!

Here’s to getting my own car soon, going back up to the woods to work this weekend, walking in the rain, staying with Yetunde this week and catching up on the past 6 months, finding an outfit for a work fundraising dinner on Thursday night, to Arlene accidentally volunteering to work this weekend, Claire ripping the back pocket of my jeans, watching 3 hours of Miami ink, to going to the US/Canada border next week to get my work permit extended, the current snow storm, Arlene and the green truck fiasco [For some reason someone thought it would be a good idea to let her drive!] to my first bent river burger, racing Kenny on the zipline, looking up at the stars as light snow starts to fall over the lake, “Have you ever met me before?!” and to Alice.

Pretty, huge, massive announcement!!

So here it is… I was offered and have accepted a new full time position with the Muskoka Woods Foundation in Toronto!! I start on Monday. I have known for a few weeks but it’s only become official within the last few days.

The position is a development coordinator and is a new position. The Foundation works along side Muskoka Woods as an organization that helps run its projects such as send a kid to camp, a scholarship program, project 52 and helps support project Romania. My job is to over see some of these projects as well as recruiting new volunteers and organizing fundraising events. Hopefully ill be going to Romania in May if everything works out.
Check out the website and read all about the Foundation.

I am VERY excited! I can’t believe I’m committing to live here for a while and am not freaking out!! I felt like I was waiting for ages for a job like this something I can get excited about and give my all too and make a difference!

Here's to being home in a month, going down zipline being the last thing I did on Rec Staff and to lots more stuff I'll record at another time!

Snow, Heroes & digging holes

It started to snow today!! Which was great but way to cold. Weird to think we were wearing shorts a couple of weeks ago. Things are starting to slowly whind down here over the next few weeks with smaller schools in which gives us time to rest and hang out as a staff and do lots of fun silly things & stay up way later then we should.

Here’s to “I think I should be a percussionist”, Alice falling off the golf cart, taking Alice to hospital after she fell off the golf cart, watching Heroes into the wee hours of the morning with Matt, sing a long times, playing capture the flag, going to Barrie shopping, to Fruit fest 2007, “aahhh you amuse me no end”, the return of settlers, "RACHEL KIRK... Oh no you did'nt?!!" to discovering the reason why I stayed for fall [more on that soon] “Just tell them you have chest pains and you’ll be in right away!”, flying home with Arlene, “STOP…don’t…” locking Alice’s keys in her car, “I’m so distracted… people are stripping!”, catching over 40 mice, “I’m digging a hole again aren’t I?”, finally getting my visa extension, “You realize you just gave a small child a piece of plastic to put over her head?!”, wolferine, and to Caitlin coming to visit at the weekend.
