Coldplay, 6 months & a fight!

As it turned out that on Wednesday night of the Coldplay concert it was exactly 6 months to the day since we saw them in Dublin, What are the chances I ask?! But anyway the concert was fantastic. We [Stu, Lois and myself] had really good seats, just at stage level and at a stones throw distance. Richard Ashcroft [Formally of The Verve] was supporting them it was great to hear the old Verve classics- The drugs don’t work, Lucky man and my all time favourite song Bitter Sweet Symphony- aawwwhh it was immense… Everyone singing along.

Coldplay did pretty much the same set to Dublin but I’m not complaining although would have loved to have heard Shiver live but you don’t always get what you want in life!

Coldplay ended with Fix you which finished the concert off perfectly. I should mention the fight I had since it’s in the title! Cut short: I got shouted at by this old man behind me for standing up so much [Fair enough I get the point he couldn’t see] but everyone else was standing up but boy did he give me abuse so much so his son told him to stop!

I thought when he first shouted at me I can either take this and sit for the rest of the night depressed or stick up for myself as I’m told so much that confrontation is a weakness of mine I decided to stick up for myself but in a nice way not an abusive aggressive way in which he spoke to me- Was pretty pleased with myself I have to say, I don't think Stu could believe it when he heard me say to the guy "Are you serious?" The top picture is of Richard Ashcroft the rest are Colplay taken with my beautiful Sony Ericcson K750i phone.

Good bye Carphone Warehouse

After weeks of being told that Carphone Warehouse would keep my job open for me when I'm stateside, I was rudely told on Saturday that I obviously didnt read my contract and that in my contract it stated that I couldnt take time off in Decemeber and January. So my ownly option is to quit... So my last shift is 27th December. So this means another job hunt in Febuary upon my return. Ill maybe try Phones 4u or The Link this time make my way through all the phone shops or maybe back to o2! But Carphone Warehouse have made a great mistake losing out on my expertise even if I do say so myself. Speaking of work would you believe I sold a phone to a woman on Saturday and as she was leaving she told me it was for her 6 year old daughter for Christmas! 6 years olds do NOT need a mobile phone!

Christmas crackers...

Its the time of the Christmas period for Christmas dinners- work, college and the like in fact I have 5 this week! It'll not just be the turkey that will be stuffed this Christmas- ha ha
And so come the Christmas crakers today at the church staff christmas dinner and the normal tradition of the dubious joke/question in the craker being read aloud...

Q. Who starred alongside Kevin Costner in the film "The Bodyguard?"

Now you like myself I'm sure are thinking that the answer is obviously Whitney Houston but infact the answer on the slip was 'Peacocks' - Whats that about?! And so comes the challenge can anyone beat this ridiculous craker question! or explain why the answer is Peacocks?

Due to my boredom

This post is mainly due to boredom- Here's some music to listen along the way [Thought I may as well jump on the band wagon, follow the crowd and give into the pressure of keeping up with the jones' etc etc] So here is Coldplay's Fix you just because its may favourite song of 2005 not to mention how it reminds me of my blessed Ukraine!

As of today its approx:
7 days until I finish college for Christmas holidays
12 days until the Coldplay concert
16 days until Christmas
20 days until the formal
22 days until New years eve
28 days until I go to America
127 days until the Brazil team go
168 days until my Birthday and Graduate from Bible College
And finally 206 days until the Ukraine team go

Plenty of things to look forward to I feel! But you must also sense how bored I must be right now as I wait for my tutor to mark and hopefully pass my youth work file!

Brazil

The next team from the church is to Sao Paulo, Brazil to the ‘Valley of blessing’ which has been set up to care for the many street children in Brazil. From 15th – 29th April. To do pretty much anything and everything! We’ll be refurbishing a play park, helping to teach in the local school, praying in the 24/7 prayer room, painting, running an after schools club, general maintenance work, visiting favelas in the out skirts of Sao Paulo or any hobby or skill you would like to use and possibly a trip to a seaside resort at the weekend. If you’re interested and would like more information email me at- teams@ballynahinchbaptist.org. Go on… it’ll be GREAT! Not to mention seeing the great Gary T!
